I have always loved watching awards shows. I love the Acadamy Awards, especially. I used to watch every single nominated film, which made watching the Acadamy Awards that much more fun. Since becoming a mom, I haven't had as much time to see every nominated film, but there are always a handful I'll make time to watch before the big night. And usually? I'm bang on with my predictions of which movie will take Best Picture, or who will win Best Actress and Best Actor.

Seriously, watching awards shows has become so much more fun since Twitter has come into our lives. Actually, watching anything on TV is so much more fun with Twitter!

It's constant chatter, and laughter, and OMG's, and what is she wearing, and ew look at her hair, and can you believe how beautiful she looks, and look at him, he's so dreamy, and hands off, Clooney is mine, and so on, all night long.

It's like, a virtual party, you know? Social media plays a huge part in allowing people to stay connected during awards shows. And that's just awesome. Twitter and Facebook are so much fun after a show's season finale, or after a big awards show like The Oscars. Comments, chatter, conversation, disagreements, and nods in unison bring us even closer, even though we're not in the same room.

Without our smartphones, watching awards shows wouldn't be as fun. As a mom who has been on maternity leave twice, I had to come up with creative things to do on a daily basis to entertain my babies and myself.
